About

At Being Architecture our practice is human-centred, sustainable, and considered. We collaborate with clients to create spaces that nurture liveability, community and wellbeing.

Operating from Melbourne and Newcastle, we design with a belief that architecture should connect people with place, have a strong purpose, nurture wellbeing and create little moments of joy in everyday life.

Founder Amber Laing holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Architecture (Curtin University) & Master of Architecture (University of Melbourne) and brings over ten years of design experience across residential, education, civic, retail and graphic projects. She has also completed the Australian Passivhaus Association - Passive House Design course, strengthening her commitment to creating buildings that are energy-efficient, sustainable and health promoting.

Amber’s work is characterised by a commitment to natural light, thoughtful and uplifting spaces. Amber is particularly interested in creating curious and playful environments that spark interest, while maintaining precision and purpose.

Amber’s experience managing a team of designers has reinforced the importance of strong communication, co-ordination, and leadership. These qualities underpin her approach to clients and project teams, ensuring that each design process is transparent and resolved.
